Zac Secures P4 finish GT Open: Spa 500

Round 2 of the GT Open International Championship saw Zac Meakin and teammate Mikey Porter take on the legendary Spa-Francorchamps for the demanding Spa 500. Against a grid packed with GT3 experience, the Optimum Motorsport pairing delivered a strong and composed drive to secure an impressive 4th place finish.

The weekend presented its challenges, with Spa’s ever-changing weather and the intensity of a 500km endurance format testing both drivers to the limit. Despite the pressure, Zac and Mikey showcased their growing strength as a partnership, maintaining consistent pace and executing faultless stints to bring the Optimum Motorsport McLaren home just shy of the podium.

Reflecting on the result, Zac said:

“Spa is always one of the toughest circuits on the calendar, so to come away with P4 in only our second GT Open weekend is a result we can be proud of. Mikey and I are learning every time we get in the car, and this was another big step forward for us.”

The P4 finish at Spa reinforces the duo’s rapid progress in their GT3 debut season, underlining their ability to compete against some of Europe’s most experienced GT drivers and teams.

With valuable points secured and clear momentum building, all eyes now turn to the next round as Meakin and Porter continue to establish themselves as front-running contenders in the championship.
