Zac Signs to SMC for McLaren Trophy Series
After a stellar 2024 season that saw him crowned British GT GT4 Champion, Zac Meakin is stepping onto the European stage. For 2025, Zac will join SMC Motorsport, competing in the McLaren Trophy Europe behind the wheel of the brand-new Trophy-spec McLaren Artura.
This move marks the next step in Zac’s rapidly rising career. His dominant British GT campaign showcased not only raw speed but also composure and consistency under pressure. Now, he’s taking that momentum into a pan-European championship that attracts some of the fastest one-make GT competition in the world.
The McLaren Trophy Europe will see Zac and SMC Motorsport race across iconic circuits, including Paul Ricard, Spa-Francorchamps, Hockenheim, and Barcelona, in front of packed international crowds. Driving the latest generation Artura, specifically developed for the Trophy series, Zac will have the chance to demonstrate his ability against a fiercely competitive grid while representing both McLaren and SMC Motorsport at the highest level.
Speaking on the announcement, Zac said:
“Last year was an incredible experience winning the British GT4 Championship, but I’m hungry for more. Racing in McLaren Trophy Europe with SMC Motorsport is the perfect next step. The Artura looks like a phenomenal car to race, and I can’t wait to take it to some of the best tracks in Europe.”
SMC Motorsport Team Principal [insert name if available] added:
“We’ve followed Zac’s progress closely and his performance in British GT speaks for itself. Bringing him into our McLaren Trophy Europe programme was a no-brainer. We’re confident he’ll adapt quickly and be fighting at the sharp end from the first round.”
The season begins this spring, and expectations are high. With a championship already under his belt and a proven ability to deliver when it counts, Zac Meakin’s European debut is set to be one of the storylines to watch in 2025.
